Masala Oats Upma
So this was our Sunday breakfast . Partly inspired from masala oats introduced into the market recently (never tasted them though) , this recipe is a change from eating oats in regular fashion. Yeah with all veggies and little oil I am sure its healthy too . I fed this to my 1.4 year old kid too and he loved it . So i am damn sure this is kid friendly recipe too.
INGREDIENTS :-
Oats :- 2 cups
Onions :- finely chopped :- 1/2 cup
tomatoes :- finely chopped(1/2 cup)
Matar/Green peas :- 1/2 cup
Green chillies :- few (chopped,adjust)
Add any veggie you like cauliflower, matar, carrot….etc etc
Curd/Yoghurt:- 1 cup
Water :-as required
Salt :- as required
Turmeric :- a pinch
Garam masala :- a teaspoon
Curry leaves :- few
Coriander :- 1/2 bunch chopped
For tempering :-
Oil :- a teaspoon
Jeera :- 1 teaspoon
Mustard :- a teaspoon
METHOD :-
- Take a pan, heat oil add jeera, mustard, green chillies, curry leaves and allow them to splutter.
- Add all the veggies , salt and stir fry them and simmer them with closed lid for few minutes.
- Add oats , curd, adjust salt, turmeric, garam masala and add enough water for oats to boil .
- Simmer it for few minutes , dress with coriander (optionally add a dash of lemon juice too) and serve hot
