Mamidikaya pulihora (Raw mango-rice)

Summer reminds of only one thing,Mangoes !!! Be it raw ,ripen…everything is of mangoes. We eat eat eat mangoes until we finally get bored of eating them :P (Can that ever happen ?? ). So one more favorite delicacy of hubby dear and myself is mamdikaya pulihora . mamidikaya is basically raw mango.After making this recipe keep it aisde for 30 min. This is to make sure that sourness of mangoes blends well with the rice. For this recipe use only sour mangoes , sweet ones might taste horrible :P . Finally this is tangy , sour and yeah lovely too :D

 INGREDIENTS:-
Rice:  – 2 glasses
Raw mango:- 1 big  (peel off the skin and grate it)
Dry chilies:  – 2-3
Green chilies:  – 5-6 slit lengthwise
Oil:  – 1½ tablespoon
Peanuts:  – 1 cup
Channa dal/ Bengal gram/pachi senagapappu :- ½ cup
Urad dal/ Black gram/Minapappu: 2 teaspoons
Mustard seeds:- 1 teaspoon
Methi seeds :- 1 teaspoon
Karivepaku/ Curry leaves:  – 6-7 (tender ones)
Hing (asaeftoda) :- 1 pinch
Salt:  – as required
Turmeric :- 1 teaspoon
METHOD:
  1. Boil the rice in cooker . See that rice is not overcooked.  The grains should not stick to each other.
  2. Spread it in large plate and allow it to cool.
  3. In a separate pan add oil and add curry leaves, chana dal,urad dal, peanuts and fry them until peanuts roast well
  4. Add mustard seeds, dry chilies to the oil and allow them to splutter
  5. Allow this mixture to cool. Add it to the boiled rice and mix it well.
  6. Add grated mangoes and enough salt to the rice . Mix well properly again.
